Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this bookish post about a new social media platform named Litalist.

My thanks to Bei at Midas PR for inviting me to find out more about this new bookshelf app, which allows you to curate, organise, and find new books to read-and lets face it, don’t we want escapism now more than ever?

As someone who has spent the last 6 weeks, with pen and paper, re-organising and collating every single physical, e-book and audiobook in two files (need to know basis on the final tally, includes my husband if he is reading this!) I absolutely wanted to check it out.

Bei and Litalist kindly offered me a 20% discount code as well for anyone wanting to sign up to this platform before the 28th February, so what better day than World Book Day to use it!

*Discount code is rachelreadit20 and is eligible until February 28th *

They are so confidant that readers will enjoy the platform, that they are giving away goodies and a free book to the first 500 people who signed up, so it is definitely worth checking out to see if you are one of those lucky numbers!

From the way that I see it, book platforms can become a bit of an insular, echo chamber that can create a sense of cliquey-ness and encourages people to leave reviews when books haven’t even been published (who would even do that?!) , target readers and authors alike which I have to say, no matter whether I like a book or not, is absolutely not for someone else to dictate.

Even when, in the rare occasion, I have not enjoyed a book, I would never dream of this, as what I may not have liked, someone else may adore so to borrow a term from my youngest daughter, gatekeeping is absolutely not what I am here for in the book world!

It is my place of safety and escape so why make it toxic?

Anyhow, that aside, I found Litalist easy to access, they recommend people I might know from other platforms, and you can rearrange your book shelves to your heart’s content whilst being recommended, in a non-hard sell way, other titles to explore.

It took seconds to become a Litalister, and now I am anticipating a whole number of hours inputting all my books, and I couldn’t be happier!
Anyway, if you fancy a look, stroll on over and say hi, I am at ‘Rachel Read It’ and will be there quite a bit I imagine-looking forward to talking books with you 🙂
