About the book…

Join me for some true tales of Unexplained mysteries of the most cryptic kind. In this book are strange and baffling true stories of unexplained mysteries, and the cast of characters who star in them. Stories of unexplained mysteries that yearn to be solved.

All of these strange and curious stories, I have written about over the last six years, across a number of my previous books. They continue to intrigue me, and while some of my readers may be familiar with some of these cryptic tales, there are many who are not, and I present them once more, in longer and far more extended format, with deeper delving into the strange and mysterious events and the central characters who feature in them, caught in the whirlwind of these strange unexplained mysteries… which still have yet to be solved.

Huge thanks to Anne Cater of Random Things Tours and Steph Young for the tour invite, and my gifted review copy of ‘Tales Of Unexplained Mystery’

This paperback book exists as an expansion to Steph’s podcasts where she investigates supernatural themed oddities.

I had a tiny inkling of some of these cases, most notably that of Elisa Lam,but where Steph succeeds is i he bringing forth the humanity of her subjects, rather than using their urbam legend status as water cooler fodder.

She does not offer an explanation for each of the 12 incidents she tackles in the book, in a very X-Files/Fortean Times manner, she presents the facts and leaves you to make up your own mind.

For example, with ‘Hecate In The Ancient Woods’ or ‘The American Dyatlov’ she examines how places become synonymous with events like witchcraft and disappearance without anything more than superstition as the basis for this perception. That people have disappeared is evident, but how and why in those particular places in inexplicable. Much like Hill House in fiction and the Cecil Hotel in real life, some places draw you to them and embrace the dark side of existence

There isn’t a rationale explanation, but in the absence of this, facts and hypotheses are presented. And then they linger far beyond the page.

At the end of the book the author notes her other publications, I for one am signing up to her podcasts and looking forward to reading ‘Haunted Asylums’ . Steph taps into to the primal instinct to provide answers to the unanswerable….and gives a plethora of evidence for the reader to consider.

Shiver inducing and mindful,I really enjoyed it!
