About the book…

The Universe is coming apart at the seams. As Jonathan and his friends sight to save it, their every move is being watched from the shadows. Lilith, the last Archdemon has plans of her own and with legendary Michael’s Spear under her control Jonathan has never faced a more lethal foe.

With the odds stacked against him, Jonathan will need all the help he can get if he is to fulfil his destiny.

It’s time for Gabriel’s grandson to finally spread his wings…

‘Michael’s Spear’ is available in paperback and ebook formats, and is the third in his ‘Hobbe’s End’ series.

Marrying ecclesiastical myths with teenagers is not an easy job and in less deft hands could have come across as borderline preachy-however, in Hilton Pasley’s hands, the concepts of demons and angels and human hybrids would be nothing more than glorious reinvention. Archangel Gabriel has a grandon and this boy, Jonathan and his cat Elgar, have to take center stage as the final battle approaches with Lillith. How can he and his allies fight an entity who has the mythical spear of Michael which has the power to hurt angels?

It definitely works as a standalone to someone who has not read the first two novels, and with my knowledge of angel lore being firmly lodged in what I have picked up from the tv show Supernatural, this was a great opportunity to go off and do my own digging. Further to this, I read it with my 9 year old daughter who is as keen as I am to read Books 1 and 2-she was fascinated by what she saw as a parallel to the Percy Jackson series (high praise indeed!) and her attempts to rename one of our idiotic cats, Bert and Ernie as Elgar , is currently falling on deaf ears.

I loved how quickly she took to the action pieces and how it has changed her outlook on angels as being passive creatures who lounge around playing harps rather than messengers of the gods who were bad ass fighters! When the fate of the universe itself is at stake, this is not the time for dithering-decisive action needs to be taken! And Jonathan has clearly done some growing up during the first two sections of this series to find himself ready to face both his destiny and his fate. Hopefully there will be adventures in the same vein in the future, myself and Flo are looking forward to whatever Hilton Pashley does next.
