The Devil’s back – and he’s STILL not had a holiday. There’s another mystery to solve – a woman kidnapped by terrorists and the world trying to find her.

While he hates doing God’s bidding, The Devil can’t resist trying to put one over on Him. But nothing is EVER that simple. While The Devil helps the London cops crack the case, there’s trouble in the Underworld.

And two of humanity’s greatest backstabbers – Brutus and Cassius – are sharpening their knives with an eye on stealing his crown.

It’s a race against time to find the girl, be the bad guy and maybe stop the apocalypse.

So there he was, minding his own business, literally hours into his first ever holiday and the Devil himself gets yanked back to the world of the humans.

His plan , first outlined in ‘Hellcorp’, was to offload so many of his devilish duties that he could actuallly take a break, however, the Man In Black’s luck is well and truly out.

Once more confined to the vagaries of the male, human body, he finds himself arrested on suspicion of kidnapping a woman named Medina Cade. Taken whilst on holiday, and held to ransom by a terrorist group, her plight can apparantly be only solved by a ballsy female detective with a demonic sidekick.

Deeply philosophical with twists of pure humour-turns out that Hell’s Bells actually exist!-this unusual perspective on the notion of free choice, self determination and the concepts of God, The Devil and everyone in between, is a book that does not take itself too seriously whilst asking some searching questions.
And what a cliff hanger ending!
Black humour, involving characters, literary puns and classical bad guys in the form of Caesar;s assassins make this a delightful and endearing read.

Very much recommended for fans of radio programme ‘Old Harry’s Game’, this once more shows that the Devil according to Jonathan Whitelaw, really does have the best tunes!
