Hello! Is it me you were looking for?
Challenged to think up 10 little known facts by the wonderful ‘The Reading Closet’ that would not send anyone to sleep, I have come up with the following ….

1) I have 9 tattoos at present- last Valentine Day was when I had my most recent one, a joint raven tattoo with my husband on our wrists to represent Hunin and Munin , Odin’s pets as well as referencing Edgar Allan Poe! This is the tattoo on the left, I have it next to my https://projectsemicolon.com/ one on my left wrist under a paperboat (for IT by Stephen King) and a bear walking on my lifeline (‘Shardik’ by Richard Adams)
2) My eldest daughter and I will both graduate from the same cohort at the same time in July with
degrees in nursing-her,mental health and me, adult branch. She will go before me to collect her projected first class degree and I will be next with a projected gold star for good effort! I jest, but I do take it very seriously, it’s a struggle for a mature student and am honestly not expecting great things. She, however, is doing fantasically and I could not be happier!
3) Go-to breakfast? Cake ! In the abscence of cake it would probably have to be avocado on toast as a second favourite.
4) My first properly grownup reads were ‘Jane Eyre’ and ‘Moby Dick’ when I was about 8, hence the featured image as that white whale is a favourite of mine.
5) I am a big fan of horror novels and my first horror exeprience was stealing my uncle’s pulp horror books and hiding behind my nan’s settee then having nightmares about killer slugs and rats ! Shaun Hutson, Graham Masterson and James Herbert with those fabulous 80’s covers-can’t beat them!
6) I have delivered approximately 80 babies during and after my midwifery training in another lifetime it seems and a galaxy far far away…
7) There are currently 97 books in my hallway which makes going up and downstairs tricky as I keep picking books up, sitting down and having a read. But no regrets! It takes me longer to do things but the journey is fun!
8) Favourite animals? Definitely Octopi! Totally obsessed with them and spiders too! Spider wrangling is definitely one of my favourite things to do -we seem to have loads of them at the moment but it could be I am naturally attracting them as some kind of spider goddess…

9) My favourite music includes 80’s classics, Florence and The Machine and Scissor Sisters amongst others. I could not carry a tune in a bucket but listen to lots of different kinds of songs and still try and sing them-badly!
10) Go to drink? Has to be coffee by the bucket! I can hold my drink pretty well for an old bird, and love cocktails, red wine, shots and prosecco mixed with gin-lethal but delicious. Also honey tequila….mmmmm!
So! To conclude, I have a grand knowledge of 80’s music and pulp horror, can be bribed with muffins and prosecco as well as being handy in a tight spot for emergencies!
It’s so interesting to learn a bit more about the Rachel behind the blog 🙂 You sound lovely! And I have to concur, the octopus is my all-time favourite animal.
Thank you so much Bella! It was hard coming up with that many things so really had to think…oh an octopus would be my ideal pet /companion but they are on the ‘BANNED LIST’ along with spiders, bees and chickens x
You had me at horror books, tattoos and Sister Sisters lol fab getting to know you!
Ahaha! Thank you very much ! I am looking forward to reading more ‘Meet The Blogger’ posts around the interweb 😄
