About the book….

Seven guests. One Killer. A holiday to remember…

A dark and addictive psychological thriller about seven strangers who find themselves cut off from civilization in a remote guesthouse in Ireland…

Not all the guests will survive their stay…

You use an app, called Cloud BNB, to book a room online. And on a cold and windy afternoon, you arrive at The Guesthouse, a dramatic old building on a remote stretch of hillside in Ireland.

You are expecting a relaxing break, but you find something very different. Something unimaginable. Because a killer has lured you and six other guests here and now you can’t escape.

One thing’s for certain: not all of you will come back from this holiday alive…

Many, MANY thanks to Rebecca at Harper Collins for my gifted review copy of stunning debut thriller,‘The Guesthouse’

It’s available wherever good books are sold in paperback so go get it folks!

This is a mystery and an enigmatic book that goes back and forth in the story of protagonist , Hannah, who is an unreliable narrator from the start due to her issues with alcohol.

She is a complex character who is deeply traumatised by recent events and memories which haunt her from her childhood years. A chance email has her taking a break from her life and fleeing to Ireland in an attempt to reboot her life and make better decisions for her future.

From the isolated setting, and the taxi driver who refuses to go any further, to the lack of contact with the i]outside world, a scene is set with 7 strangers, ripe for the picking.

Each has something to hide, and the refurbished guesthouse becomes a pressure cooker where people start going missing.. and then turn up dead…

The nuances and complexities of everyone’s relationship with the house, and each other, has them quickly figuring out that what looks like a great opportunity to switch off and relax, swiftly reveals itself to be a game of cat and mouse as one by one, the visitors are cut off from each other. Things appear in places that they should not be in, and one guest in particular, has half formed memories of having been in the house before. As they confront the truth of their past, is one of the guests genuinely a holiday maker who is trapped like the others, or are they a manipualtive, cold blooded killer?

Is the villain one of them or are they as alone as they thought they would be?

Bringing to mind favourable comparisons with ‘Sleep’ by CL Taylor, this is ahcarcter driven novel of suspense, wrong footing and revelations that will leave the reader feeling alternately exposed, and yet claustrophobic as the events escalate to a deathly degree.

I loved it!
