‘So what’s this all about?’ I hear someone cry from the back!
WELL….it is last year’s #Spooktober, back and with added books, for another attempt to fill in my reading list of classic frights.
Don’t tell anyone because they might revoke my horror reader’s card, but apart from short stories, I have not yet read a full length Shirley Jackson novel …
So this year, with big girl pants on, industrial strength coffee by the bucketload and a determined will, the books I listed below are going to be read.
Well, Halloween is my favourite holiday ever and this October, I am hoping to read scary things all
month long . And also in September. AND November. Basically all year round, but October is the time for this genre to shine
As anyone searching this hashtag on the blog will see, I got side tracked and went quitw awry, reading only 4 of the listed titles, and also books which I hadn;t even listed. BRAVA me of 2019!
This hashtag is not my exclusive invention, nor is the idea of reading scary stuff for Halloween, it’s just that it looks like a fun thing to do!
I have read all of Stephen King’s novels, James Herbert, most of Peter Straub and Dan Simmons.
Jonathan Janz is a new found favourite in the genre, I am a big fan of Flametree Press’ horror output!
So far, there have been some great suggestions on Twitter and Instagram, and after taking them on board well as plundering my TBR stash, finally I have my list of 31 booo…s to dive into!

Ooh I might join in with you on this! Sounds fab ❤️
Oh YAY! That would be wonderful,🥰
If it wasn’t for #Orentober I would defo join you in #Spooktober! I might try and squeeze in a scary story anyway 😁🎃👻
Yep that is going to be a busy month for you! I chose some books so I can support you right back for that!
That would be wonderful, if you did ! Found a few more to add to my list of books, thinking of keeping it small, less than 200 pages if possible, throughout the month.
Too bad I’ve already read The Lingering, that would have been two birds with one stone 😄
Such a good book! Absolutely terrifying!
