About the book….
From the author of A Secret History of Witches comes a new standalone novel set in the same world: an absorbing tale of love, sacrifice, family ties, and magic, set in the US in the aftermath of World War II. Perfect for fans of A Discovery of Witches, Outlanderand Nora Roberts.
Barrie Anne Blythe and her Aunt Charlotte have always known that the other residents of their small coastal community find them peculiar – two women living alone on the outskirts of town. It is the price of concealing their strange and dangerous family secret.
But two events threaten to upend their lives for ever. The first is the arrival of a mysterious abandoned baby with a hint of power like their own. The second is the sudden reappearance of Barrie Anne’s long-lost husband – who is not quite the man she thought she married.
Together, Barrie Anne and Charlotte must decide how far they are willing to go to protect themselves – and the child they think of as their own – from suspicious neighbours, the government and even their own family . . .
Praise for Louisa Morgan:

‘Epic in scope and heartbreakingly tender . . . Recommended for fans of Nora Roberts’ Booklist
OUT NOW!(Yes, now!) this is set in the same universe as ‘‘A Secret History Of Witches’ however you can read it as a standalone (but treat yourself and buy this one too, tell the bookseller Rachel sent you!)
The Welsh have a word , hiraeth, meaning something untranslatable as it is a feeling, a sense of belonging and yearning for home.
‘The Witch’s Kind’ had this word echoing in my head as I read it, it is a tale of historical fiction and such rich imagery and beauty that it recalls hearth, home and the sacred feminine.
Belonging and being blood related are not always mutually exclusive…
Barrie-Anne and Charlotte are such lovingly created people that you can absolutely see them in their homestead and their garden, their lives are totally thrown into disarray as a baby is brought into their lives by Willow, their dog.
They live in relative peace as outsiders but the baby brings the outside world into their comfortable existence, however, it forces both to face truths and finally grieve over the tragic events that have occurred in both their pasts.
I absolutely loved it, hugest of thanks to Orbit Books for my gifted copy.It is perfect for anyone who has read ‘Practical Magic’!
It left me spellbound and entranced and now I want to dig out ‘A Secret History of Witches’ again!
About the author….

Taken from Louisa’s blog , this is a snippet all about her-
‘I’m fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest, where there is an abundance of resources for writers. The Clarion West Writer’s Workshop was pivotal in my development as a writer, and there is a whole host of people here who support and encourage each other–Greg Bear, Vonda McIntyre, Robin Hobb, Kay Kenyon, Richard Paul Russo, Brenda Cooper, Cat Rambo . . . too many to list them all.
I’m a practicing Roman Catholic, an enthusiastic cook with an interest in health food, an avid yogi, and a happy golfer, although it takes up too much of my writing time. I read a great deal for pleasure, because I think if I don’t read for fun, I won’t write for fun. Books should be fun.
I love to visit middle schools and high schools to talk about writing and about speculative fiction. I appreciate e-mails and notes from readers. I also love conventions, and the fans who attend them. They give me inspiration, input, community, and friendship.’
