About the book…
My son has been taken. And I’ve been given a choice…
Kill a patient on the operating table. Or never see him again.
The man lies on the table in front of me.
As a surgeon, it’s my job to save him.
As a mother, I know I must kill him.
You might think that I’m a monster.
But there really is only one choice.
I must get away with murder.
Or I will never see my son again.
I’VE SAVED MANY LIVES.
WOULD YOU TRUST ME WITH YOURS?
Thank you so much Tracy Fenton of Compulsive Readers and publishers Simon and Schuster for my gifted review copy of ‘Do No Harm’ which is released in paperback on March 30th !
-Heart attack inducing suspense
-Blood pressure rising tension
-Surgical precision plotting from first page to last
All of the above is true and yet it seems inadequate to totally explore what the experience of reading ‘Do No Harm’ does to your mind.
You have a doctor at the end of her rope, broken by a dovorce, working in a high pressure environment where everyone else comes first.
But what if the oath that you swore, to protect and to save lives, is held up against the most precious being in your life, the child you get up every day for, and keep going for?
Suddenly, the normal day turns into a nightmare as Dr Anna Jones’ house is invaded, cameras are fitted in every room, and an ultimatum is delivered. Kill a man who she is due to operate on, in 2 days time, or her son dies.
The ticking clock at the start of each chapter creates a heightened sense of panic as Anna has to make a horrendous choice. The moral dilemma alone is astounding, how difficult would this be to arrange a ‘medical error’?
But what would come next? She would alsways know what she has done and how can you live with the knowledge that hands trained to heal could be bought by a Devil’s bargain?
The pages glip by at lightening speed as you try to anticipate what she would do, what would you do, if the script was flipped , in a tale that appears to rush towards an unhappy ending.
The central motif of this thriller is ‘does a life have a price, and if so, would you pay it?’
Each reader may have a differing viewpoint on Anna’s dilemma, however, in skilled hands like Jack’s, you nare constantly unnerved by an ordinary person put into an unexpected situation , and how she aims to take back control.
