About the book…

Two people. One love story. Six days.
He loves me… He loves me not… He loves me…

Gemma knows that she and Finn are destined to be together. They are soulmates. But then, on their wedding day, he never arrives at the church.

Gemma is convinced Finn wouldn’t abandon her like this, even though he has disappeared once before. But back then he had a reason. She feels sure something terrible has happened, but no one else is convinced. Even the police aren’t concerned, telling Gemma most people who disappear usually turn up in a week… assuming they want to be found, that is.

For the next six days Gemma frantically searches for Finn, even though every shocking revelation is telling her to give up on him. Before long, even she begins to doubt her own memories of their love.

How long can she hold on to her faith in Finn if everyone is telling her to let him go?

My thanks to Ayo from Aria Fiction for inviting me on the tour for ‘Six Days’ by Dani Atkins, which is out from April 14, in e-book !

I didn’t need to be asked twice, Dani writes the most deeply humane stories which you can relate to, as you are wiping away your tears.

Gemma cannot believe her luck when an argument over a parking space introduces her to Finn, initially the most annoying person she has ever met.

Circumstances throw the one off clash into a second meet up, and he unexpectedly provides a shoulder to lean on at a time when it’s most needed.

They have one blissful moment of happiness, of connection, before he heads back to Australia,to commit himself to the novel he always intended to write.

A cruel happenstance of their lives colliding, or two people who fate has decided to test and see if they can, and will, meet again?

As the hbook opens with their wedding day, you assume this is not a cruel trick played in the stars to berate Gemma for, as her coworkers gossip, ‘punching above her level’ (I wanted so badly to punch something reading that scene!)

Gemma is such a lovely person, deeply devoted to her family, her best friend Hannah and wanting the kind of love that her parents had, whilst fully recognising that they are a very rare breed.

So when she and Finn meet again, years after their first contact, neither is willing to let the other go.

Which is what makes it so inexplicable when he not only misses their wedding, he empties his flat and his part of their joint savings account.

Is their connection strong enough for Gemma to get anyone to listen to her when she tells them this is most un-Finn like behaviour?

Over the course of 6 days, not only does Gemma relive all their key comments, she has to work out how, why and where this has happened whilst the clock runs against her. After a week of an adult going missing, the police’s experience is that that is a person who does not want to be found…

Skilfully juggling the establishing as well as the potential ruin of a relationship , I sat there with my heart in my mouth flipping the pages and hoping against hope Gemma hadn’t been abandoned.

All the little details about her and Finn’s relationship made his disappearance so unlikely, and yet so relatable. You could not help but root for true love and circumstances beyond anyone’s control keeping these two apart. It is a testimony, a paean to love and how it connects us as people and I absolutely loved it!

About the author…

Dani was born and brought up in Cockfosters- a small London suburb at the end of the Piccadilly Tube Line.

This served her well for commuting into the city, where from the age of 18 she worked in a succession of secretarial positions in companies as diverse as a BMW car dealership to the BBC. Dani spent her two hour commute avidly reading and dreamed that one day she would become an author herself.

When her two children grew up and left home, Dani set about turning this dream into reality and devoted her time to writing. She now lives in a rural Hertfordshire cottage with her husband, a soppy border collie dog and a haughty Siamese cat.
