About the book…
Ellen was just trying to help a stranger. That was how it started: giving a few minutes respite to a flustered young mother sitting opposite her on the train. A few minutes holding her baby while the mother makes an urgent call. The weight of the child in her arms making Ellen’s heart ache for what she can never have.
Five minutes pass.
Ten.
The train pulls into a station and Ellen is stunned to see the mother hurrying away down the platform, without looking back. Leaving her baby behind. Ellen is about to raise the alarm when she discovers a note in the baby’s bag, three desperate lines scrawled hastily on a piece of paper:
Please protect Mia
Don’t trust the police
Don’t trust anyone
Why would a mother abandon her child to a stranger? Ellen is about to discover that the baby in her arms might hold the key to an unspeakable crime. And doing the right thing might just cost her everything . . .
After reading and loving, ‘The Holiday’ and ‘The Catch’, I pretty much bit off Tracy Fenton’s hand when she said she was running a tour for T.M Logan’s latest thriller, ‘Trust Me’, which is out from March 18th in hardcover and ebook from Zaffre.
A breathless and exhilarating race against time which pulls you in from the very first page, this reader was constantly caught off guard by revelations and plot shenanigans which left me breathless.
How would you feel if a complete stranger asks you to mind their baby whilst they use the bathroom, then, two minutes later, the train you are on starts moving and you see the mother walking away down the platform?
Holy crap, the people you would automatically turn to are the police, the authorities and this is where things get complicated as not only does Ellen have personal reasons why she is on that train, tied in with her fertility struggles, but she has been exhorted not to trust anyone. And then, there is the man sitting across from her who she is sure has snapped a picture of her and baby Mia….
Battling her instincts to do the right thing, her heart tells her this baby is in need of protection and this young woman, Zoe, we later find out, has picked absolutely the right person on the train to guard Mia. An ex-Naval officer with a strong moral compass, Ellen centers Mia and her needs to be delivered, safely, to her family.
However, there are man sized obstacles in her path and whilst Zoe instinctively picked Ellen as someone who she could trust, Ellen is not so fortunate as she has to juggle logic, instinct and her emotions to keep both her and Mia safe. And trust does not come easily, or always in the most expected packaging….
I love TM Logan’s morally centered novels where you find yourself not only in a state of panic about the characters he has created, in a Hitchcockian sense, you find yourself thinking what would you have done in similar circumstances?
Would you have done the same as Ellen?
Read ‘Trust Me’ and find out for yourself!
