About the book…

What would Kurt Russell do? Oxford police detective Arthur Wallace asks himself that question a lot. While he’s a good cop, he prefers his action on the big screen. But when he sees tentacles sprouting from the neck of a fresh corpse, the secretive government agency MI37 comes to recruit Arthur in its struggle against a threat from another dimension known as the Progeny.

But Arthur is NO HERO!

Can an everyman stand against sanity-ripping cosmic horrors?

The first in the Arthur Wallace series, ‘No Hero’ was first published in 2014 and is currently available on Kindle Unlimited!

We have all been, there, in situations where we think ‘who would handle this better?’ And then imagine how that person would have done it so much better(especially in the shower, don’t you find all the best, most wittiest comebacks come to you in the shower and you almost want to ring people up and say ‘Hey! I want a rematch!’?!)

We have a plaque in our house which  reads ‘What would Elvis do?’ and in  the case of Arthur Wallace, he asks what Kurt Russell, action hero extraordinaire, Snake Plisskin himself , do in the situations he finds himself in.

And advice from the man himself could not be more needed when he finds himself, in Oxford, quiet little Oxford, attending an incident where he sees the top of a man’s head sheared off, and a parasitic creature come out of it.

And then he gets stabbed, wakes up in hospital and finds himself recruited by a shadowy government agency who are taking on Elder gods and monsters that even Lovecraft might find a little far fetched.

Told with good humour and excellent pacing, ‘No Hero’ is the book we all kind of relate to, the story wherein the hero doesn’t realise he is one, and that the ability to be the saviour of yours, and other people’s lives, is within you all the time.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and really clicked with Arthur’s character, he is an everyman placed in a situation where his ordinary nature becomes a survival skill. Looking forward to enjoying more in the series throughout the year, there are a further 3 books which are ‘Yesterday’s Hero’,‘Anti Hero’ and ‘Broken Hero’, all published by Titan Books

Highly recommended for any fans of urban fantasy, go check them out!
