HUGE thanks to Kelly at Love Books Group for inviting me on the blog tour for ‘The Silver Moon Storybook’ by Elaine Gunn illustrated by Megan McPhie.

About the book…

What darkness lies in the past of a little witch, cursed into the shape of a giant?

As the silver moon rises, who will save a magical unicorn, imprisoned in the castle of a tyrant, or befriend an enormous clown who roams the world alone? Can a humble weaver find the courage to face a terrible monster?  And what will be the fate of a powerful mermaid, at war with the world above her ocean? Join them and other enchanting characters in these haunting tales of illusion, discovery and love.

An exquisitely illustrated bedtime story for young readers (and perhaps some not so young), The Silver Moon Storybook weaves progressive and modern themes into touching fables full of the magic and shadows of traditional fairy tales.

This is a charming collection of original fairy tales by Elaine Gunn which I was really thrilled to be able to read.

If you love women centred tales alongside beautiful illustrations  which the author and illustrator , Megan McPhie created in order to be coloured in-there are also colouring sheets avaialable at the weblink below if you want your book to remain intact-then this is the book for you.

Giant clowns, little witches, unicorns and more are to be found within the pages of this beautifully made book which is perfect for either reading aloud with your children or if you leave it around the hosue, the older tweens have been sneakily picking it up and reading it too!
What I am basically expressing is that it is a book which can be read by all ages, my 8 year old only became interested when her 12 year old sister ran off with it, but then I had to get involved because I had to read it to review!

It’s a lovely book ofr the whole family to enjoy with some valuable life lessons and issues which can be discussed after reading.

My favourite tale in the book has to be ‘The Sea Queen’ because I have always had a soft spot for mermaids and water based legends!
